For Week #1 I have chosen this gorgeous layout Somewhere in Time by Sharon (justbnsharon). Sharon used the lovely kit by Nydia's Scraps, Just Because. I just fell into this captivating layout the minute I saw it. I love the curved lines where she uses several papers, the clusters at the frame which has been placed on the wire mat. And then there is the title. Wonderful wordart! It just seems so perfect for the photo and it took me away.

The Twist this month is to create a border cluster for your page. You can layer paper strips, ribbons, fibers, or even an element from your kit. In my inspiration page, I loved the scalloped frame and wanted to create some extra dimension by layering it.
I enlarged the frame and used just one side. I duplicated this a few times and then staggered the scallop strip. To add a bit of interest, I tucked flowers, grass and even one of the clusters from the kit.
Try it out, you might have some fun!

(there was also so much green grass in my photo, that I wanted to tone done the green in my chosen bg paper. I layered my paper over a brown paper from the kit, and slightly lowered the opacity. blending can be addicting!)

April Theme Challenge at Digiscrapaganza

Spring is in the air and flowers are a blooming. So this months theme is going to be Spring layouts with flowers. I want to see at least 8 flowers in your layouts, you can cluster or even just scatter them but there has to be at least 8 of them.

Last month we posted a new way for you to earn points for free stuff in our store at Digiscrapaganza. Before you had to use at least 75% of Digiscrapaganza products to earn any points.

Now you will be able to use products from other stores and earn 1/2 a point.

If you use 75% of products from Digiscrapaganza you will earn another 1/2 a point for a total of 1 point.

Here it is April already. I found this wonderful layout Where The Dog Is by Marnie for you to scraplift this month. I LOVE the large photo faded into the background, the neat extraction and great overall design of this pretty layout. And then, her title gave the cutest twist to the whole page.

Here are the basics - Each month I will present you with a new challenge.

This challenge will run from the 15th of the current month to the 14th of the next month. So, for instance, even if you complete the challenge in March, you won't be awarded the Digiscrapaganza bonus point until April, when the challenge closes. Complete challenge rules are HERE.

Be sure to post your layouts in our Challenge Gallery HERE and then come back here with the link to your layout.

This challenge will earn you 1/2 point for completing it. If you use at least 75% Digiscrapaganza product, you will earn an additional ONE point, for a total of 1 1/2 points possible for completing the challenge.

On the 14th, I will post a poll of all the entries and let you vote on your favorite layout. The winner will receive an additional 1/2 point AND get to sport a special blinkie!

So let's get down to business...
Since this is the first Break out of the Box challenge - that's what you have to do! Break out of the box!

I am providing you a box -

Click on the photo to go to the download link - or you can use any box of your choosing!

Anything you use INSIDE the box, you must also use OUTSIDE the box AND vice versa! Place the box anywhere you want on your page ---- use any background paper you want - just remember, if you've used it on the outside of the box, it MUST ALSO BE INSIDE in some way!!!

Here is the March Multi Photo Challenge. The guidelines for this are simple:
* Make a new LO contains at least 4 photos.
* Post the LO in the Challenge gallery and link it back here.

We have new great rules for the challenges.
You may use any kit you wish to do the challenges and you earn 1/2 point. BUT if you use at least 75 percent Digiscrapganza products in your layout you will receive an additional 1/2 point for a total of one full point, which means 1$ coupon to the store!!!

I am here with another fun Party Tray for the month of March
and do hope you will join in on the Challenge with us

This month's twist is to use the blending modes - adjust the opacity, set your paper's layer to soft light or maybe even color burn. Try something new. Using the blending modes is a great way to add some texture or depth to a photo, or even highlight a small portion you want to stand out.
Why not give it a go -- you might find some fun effects that you really love

So now that you have the ingredients, it's time to get scrapping!
The Party Tray was made using March's (free with purchase) collab kit, I've Got the Blues --

And here is my Party Tray layout.

I blended two papers together, adjusting the top layer to "pin light" and then reducing the opacity. I was trying to play on the idea of the filtered light coming through the trees during our trip to the woods.
I also duplicated my photo. I lightened the top layer slightly by blending it with one of the light papers in the kit. I then loosely selected an area around my daughter, feathered it to soften the edges, and then deleted everything else. I set the bottom photo layer to "multiply" which served to darken it just a bit. It might seem like a lot of work, but if you look closely, my daughter is a bit lighter than the rest of the photo. It is just a subtle way to draw the eye there first.

The most important thing about the Party Tray Challenge is to have fun!

And, for participating in the challenge, you will receive points,
that are good toward product in the Digiscrapaganza shoppe

Here is a guideline:
For each challenge you participate in, you will receive points which at the end of each month will be redeemed to receive a coupon for the store! In order to receive your points, you must
a) participate in the challenge(s)
b) post your layout image in the challenge gallery AND a link to your layout in the challenge(s) thread before the challenges' deadline
c) the layout must be relative to the challenge
d) the layout cannot be used for more than one challenge

Each challenge is worth one half point.

You can earn an ADDITIONAL one half point if the layout contains at least 75% of Digiscrapaganza products; for a total of one point for that challenge.*

Wow another month has gone by already and with that being said here is your March Theme Challenge.

This month I would love to see layouts done that have photos with musical instruments in them. It can be from playing Rock Band to School Concerts, just be sure that someone in the photo is playing an instrument.

We are starting a new way for you to earn points for free stuff in our store here at Digiscrapaganza. Before you had to use at least 75% of Digiscrapaganza products to earn any points.

March Scraplift Challenge

Time for a new scraplift. For the month of March I picked this lovely layout by Elaine ... aka emst. It is titled Peacock and Iguana. I love the deep dark green and how her photos stand out from it. I, also, love the way she did the border strip of paper from the same background paper. It gives the layout such a professional look. Her lovely clustering and the mask she used on the one photo just set it all off to perfection.

I hope you enjoy scraplifting this pretty layout as much as I did.
